Certified Products:

[toggles title=”Goat Ghee”]Our Goat Ghee comes from A2/A2 goats that are grass-fed all year long in the beautiful state of Washington! Goat ghee is extremely high in MCT’s, Omega 3’s, and Vitamins A, D, and K2. Lighter and fluffier to its yak and cow cousins; Goat ghee offers the same healthful properties and retains its distinctive tart and earthy notes found in most goat cheeses.

Use in hot beverages, smoothies, protein shakes, baked goods, and in place of cooking oil in recipes.[/toggles]

[toggles title=”Yak Ghee”]Yak butter has a rich history throughout Nepal, the Himalayas, and Mongolia. It has long been the fuel of Mt Everest climbers, taking them to the highest mountain on the planet! It is also a staple in the diets of Buddhist Monks, who sip on yak butter tea throughout the day. Traditionally salted, our unsalted yak ghee is as robust in flavor as it is healthy.

Our Yak Ghee is made from A2/A2 butter that comes from yaks living wildly roaming the vast grass plains and mountains of Mongolia. The yaks have an incredibly diverse diet of over 200 types of grasses and herbs and are herded by traditional pastoral nomads.

Certified Paleo and Keto, this new flavor is the perfect addition to your butter tea (best paired with pu-erh) or coffee! It is also great for any recipe that calls for fat![/toggles]

[toggles title=”Lavender Vanilla Ghee”]An all organic pairing of French countryside lavender and vanilla bean we lovingly infuse our full-year/pasture-raised ghee over a slow open flame and finish with a touch of clover honey.

Soothing and sweet this botanical spread is best highlighted in a warm beverage – try with chai or a frothy nighttime milk tonic of your choice![/toggles]

[toggles title=”Vanilla Ghee”]We start with a base of our ghee and infuse it with organic vanilla bean pods.

This is the perfect infusion for your hot beverage, or try it as an alternative to butter in your baking![/toggles]

[toggles title=”Turmeric Ginger Ghee”]A party in your mouth, this magical infusion combines vibrant organic turmeric and ginger from small farms in Indonesia with organic black pepper to increase their bioavailability!

Boost any dish with a tablespoon of Turmeric Ginger Ghee — it’s the perfect addition to curries, soups, stews, rice, and more![/toggles]

[toggles title=”Traditional Ghee”]Why is our Gold Nugget Ghee special?  Here in Northern California we benefit from a rainforest environment that allows our cows to have full-year access to green grass pastures. We then lovingly clarify our cow butter over a slow open flame to remove all the water and milk solids.  The result is a delicious decadent spread with nutty buttery notes and choc-full of health benefits. Ghee is high in Vitamin A, D, K2, Omega 3’s, and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA).

Ghee is considered the golden elixir of Ayurveda, and originates in ancient India.

Use as a healthy alternative to butter, cooking oil in recipes, or blast your brain with essential fats in your morning coffee or tea to get your day started![/toggles]

[toggles title=”Chocolate Honey Ghee”]Inspired by chocolate spread (that were full of sugar) we wanted to do our silky, rich, healthful cacao spread. Consciously sourced, and all organic, we fold our ghee with raw wild-harvested Arriba Nacional cacao from the jungles of Ecuador, raw Canadian clover honey, and a dash of cardamom.  Delish!

Use in hot beverages, smoothies, protein shakes and either on top or in baked goods.

Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigeration is optional. While clarified butter is shelf stable, use a clean utensil to avoid introducing anything foreign into the jar.[/toggles]

Daniel Draskinis, Founder

The founder of Gold Nugget Ghee, Daniel Draskinis, is a self-proclaimed health hacker, FAT friend, and guinea pig. Daniel is a entrepreneur, health coach, yoga instructor, and foodie!

The idea for Gold Nugget Ghee was birthed during a trail race in 2012 when Daniel was a vegetarian that was eating a high-carb diet consisting of a lot of sugars, starches, and grains. Upon noticing his weak performance and hitting the "wall" many times he realized there must be a better way. Diving deep into the research he discovered fat-based diets and experimented with this nutrition strategy. He incorporated a 60-70% fat-based diet and Daniel noticed that it was perfect for his athletic performance, daily life, as well as all day brain power!

Gold Nugget Ghee started because of a strong passion of making ghee! Daniel discovered it in his research into Ayurvedic medicine, which labels it as a cure-all for just about every ailment in the body. Daniel was unsatisfied in what he was finding in the store so started making his own. Daniel made ghee regularly every couple weeks. Friends wanted to buy some too and with the greater demand came the idea to start Gold Nugget Ghee!

The Story of Ghee

Ghee has been used for thousands of years, originating in ancient India to prevent butter from spoiling. It is truly an “ancient” health food (and not a fad)! Ghee quickly was integrated into the diet, into ceremonial practice and into Ayurvedic healing practices. It’s believed to promote both mental purification and physical purification through its ability to cleanse and support wellness. Ghee benefits the body both inside and out, and is actually used topically to treat burns and rashes as well as to moisturize the skin and scalp. Much like coconut oil, it’s a versatile fat that is healthy in many ways!

Optimize food + health + planet!

Gold Nugget Ghee is made from organic grass-fed butter, which comes from cows that have year-round access to the green grass pastures in Northern California. This ghee has been lovingly made on a slow flame to remove the water and milk solids. Use as a healthy alternative to butter in recipes or in your morning coffee or tea. Gold Nugget Ghee is the highest grade product made with your health and our planet in mind. 5% of our net profits are donated to various charitable organizations.

Health Benefits

Ghee is the same high-vitamin butter oil that Weston A. Price was using to heal his patients’ teeth in conjunction with raw milk, liver, and fermented cod liver oil. If it’s made of grass-fed butter, it’s a great source of Vitamin K2. Weston A. Price was calling it Activator X, but it is now known that it was actually the same thing as Vitamin K2.

How much ghee can I eat everyday?

Answer: We can’t recommend how much ghee should be consumed, since everyone’s needs are different. A qualified health care practitioner or nutritionist can help you decide the appropriate amount for your individual needs.

Do I need to refrigerate the ghee?

Answer: It is not necessary to refrigerate the jars. The ghee should be kept in a preferably dark and cool place. Use them by the “Best By Date” (about 9 months from the date of purchase) on the jar. Once opened, they can be stored for up to 3 months. Refrigerated it will last for up to a year.

Is ghee considered a dairy product?

Answer: Ghee is made from milk and hence it is a dairy-product. However, people who have dairy intolerance can generally consume ghee since ghee does not have casein (a type of milk protein) and lactose (milk sugar) which some people find difficult to digest.

Why ghee instead of just using butter?

Answer: The taste. Great quality ghee has a caramel taste from the gentle heating of the milk solids. It is a very powerful addictive taste! Ghee has a high cooking temperature of 482F! Also, many people are sensitive to dairy, through intolerance or allergy, and they find that ghee doesn’t trigger those. Ghee is also much purer and is straight fat!

What is Ghee?

Answer: Ghee is a pure fat (like coconut oil) that is derived from butter. The milk solids are removed through a gentle heating process. Ghee has a very high smoke point (482F), and can be used just like butter!

Chocolate Honey Ghee?

Answer: YESSSSSSS!!! You read that right :)

About Us :

Established in 2010, The Paleo Foundation was first organized for the purpose of improving the tolerability of the paleo diet, and to help adherents easily identify products that met its basic tenets.  Since then, thousands of products have been certified through the Certified Paleo, Keto Certified, and lab -tested Grain-Free Gluten-Free certification programs.

Disclosures:

100% of  Paleo Foundation revenue is generated through certifications.  We do not accept donations, corporate sponsorships, or financially benefit from the sales of any certified products, product giveaways, or partnerships with industry contacts or retailers for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of an impartial certification standard.

Certified Paleo logo Certified Paleo:

Each certification program has a different set of standards.  Certified Paleo is the Paleo Foundation’s first, most popular, and highest level of certification for Paleo-compliant products.  Certified Paleo Products are products that contain Paleo ingredients, but may have some 21st-century processing or packaging methods allowing for shelf stability.

Grain Free Gluten Free Certified LogoGrain-Free Gluten-Free:

Grain Free Gluten Free Certified products are gluten-free and do not contain any grains of gliadin competitive residues.  All Grain-Free Gluten-Free products have undergone two rounds of audits, including lab tests, and a final review to become approved for the Grain-free Gluten-free Certified Program.

Keto Certified LogoKeto Certified:

The ketogenic diet is a restrictive, demanding diet that can be difficult to maintain, and tolerability of the ketogenic diet is the single most important factor limiting individual acceptance for initiation.  Therefore, improving the tolerability of the ketogenic diet is crucial to preventing diet discontinuation, warranting further investigation into methods for improving palatability, improving the availability and convenience of foods that are compliant with the ketogenic diet, as well as addressing cultural and social acceptance.

The Keto Diet product market may be in a unique position to improve tolerability, especially in social and cultural environments that typically feature carbohydrate-rich “special occasion” types of foods. In 2016, the Paleo Foundation launched the world's first Keto Certified program for products with standards that were developed for adherence to a classical ketogenic diet.
