Mikey’s Muffins

They said it couldn’t be done: clean eating + dense nutrition + great taste? Impossible! Well, we refused to accept that. So we started mixing & baking a few simple ingredients, combined them with everything Mikey learned from some of the world’s greatest fine-dining chefs, and Mikey’s was born.

Our mission: to give you great tasting clean-eating options for every meal, and in between.

Simplicity and clean eating is the driving force behind what we do. We at Mikey’s Muffins created a low calorie, multi-purpose english muffin for those who cannot or choose not to eat gluten, dairy, soy, or grain products. By utilizing almonds for their rich flavor and incredible versatility, we were able to create a toastable muffin with a great taste and texture that fits all of our criteria. We believe that we have broken the mold and given people with certain food allergies or health restrictions a delicious option to reintroduce a clean bread product in their daily life.

Before starting Mikey’s, founder and CEO Michael Tierney attended The Culinary Institute of America, where he earned his degree in Culinary Arts Management. He went on to work in the kitchens of world-renowned restaurants, including The French Laundry in Napa Valley, California and Eleven Madison Park in New York. In May of 2014 at the age of 23, Tierney identified a white space in the packaged goods market, when he was unable to find a quality tasting paleo bread product. Tierney was able to finance the business and develop the flagship product on his own. Within a year, Tierney sourced commercial co-packers to manufacture the product and began selling Mikey’s to national retailers.

“My main objective when creating Mikey’s was to provide great tasting products that have a multitude of benefits,” said Tierney. “We offer products that aren’t just aimed at those with diet restrictions, but something with real ingredients that people would want to eat every day without sacrificing taste. From the muffins to bread to pizza to whatever we create next, everyone can enjoy something Mikey’s offers," says Tierney.

"I did not take a typical path to entrepreneurship. Or to baking. At 13, I started working in professional kitchens after school. That fanned the flames of my passion for cooking, so I enrolled at the CIA. Not Langley, the Culinary Institute of America. After graduation, I worked at The French Laundry in Napa and Eleven Madison Park in NYC, two of the world’s elite kitchens. It was amazing, but limiting. So I moved on to bring my love of great tasting food to a larger audience with Mikey’s." - Michael Tierney, Founder of Mikey's

What’s the difference between gluten free and certified gluten free?

Answer: The certified gluten free logo means Mikey’s products have been independently verified as meeting strict gluten free standards. In other words, we didn’t make it up.

How can Mikey’s products be so clean and taste so good?

Answer: It is really a simple process. First, you attend the CIA, the most demanding cooking school in the U.S. Then you work from 6AM to Midnight, 6 days a week, for a couple of the world’s most exacting chefs. Finally, you bake and taste, bake and taste, bake and taste until your friends think you’ve lost your mind. That’s all there is to it.

How long can Mikey’s products stay in the freezer?

Answer: The official shelf life is six months. But why would you leave ‘em there that long? Are you trying to starve to death?

How long can they stay in the refrigerator?

Answer: Mikey’s products can stay in the fridge for a week or two. They can also be refrozen, but we’re guessing they won’t last you that long

Can you take Mikey’s Muffin Tops to work or school?

Answer: Yes, but only if you bring some to share with friends.

Is there an actual Mikey?

Answer: The man, the myth, the legend…yes, he does exist!

About Us :

Established in 2010, The Paleo Foundation was first organized for the purpose of improving the tolerability of the paleo diet, and to help adherents easily identify products that met its basic tenets.  Since then, thousands of products have been certified through the Certified Paleo, Keto Certified, and lab -tested Grain-Free Gluten-Free certification programs.

100% of  Paleo Foundation revenue is generated through certifications.  We do not accept donations, corporate sponsorships, or financially benefit from the sales of any certified products, product giveaways, or partnerships with industry contacts or retailers for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of an impartial certification standard.

Certified Paleo logo Certified Paleo:

Each certification program has a different set of standards.  Certified Paleo is the Paleo Foundation’s first, most popular, and highest level of certification for Paleo-compliant products.  Certified Paleo Products are products that contain Paleo ingredients, but may have some 21st-century processing or packaging methods allowing for shelf stability.

Grain Free Gluten Free Certified LogoGrain-Free Gluten-Free:

Grain Free Gluten Free Certified products are gluten-free and do not contain any grains of gliadin competitive residues.  All Grain-Free Gluten-Free products have undergone two rounds of audits, including lab tests, and a final review to become approved for the Grain-free Gluten-free Certified Program.

Keto Certified LogoKeto Certified:

The ketogenic diet is a restrictive, demanding diet that can be difficult to maintain, and tolerability of the ketogenic diet is the single most important factor limiting individual acceptance for initiation.  Therefore, improving the tolerability of the ketogenic diet is crucial to preventing diet discontinuation, warranting further investigation into methods for improving palatability, improving the availability and convenience of foods that are compliant with the ketogenic diet, as well as addressing cultural and social acceptance.

The Keto Diet product market may be in a unique position to improve tolerability, especially in social and cultural environments that typically feature carbohydrate-rich “special occasion” types of foods. In 2016, the Paleo Foundation launched the world's first Keto Certified program for products with standards that were developed for adherence to a classical ketogenic diet.
