Sejoyia Foods: Cocoroons and Brussel Bytes

“We are determined to make it easy for people to make better choices for what they eat,” explains founder Sequoia Cheney, “by making organic, plant based snacks that are fun to eat, convenient, simple, and most importantly, irresistibly delicious!”

Coco-Roons prove that real food tastes best.  Made from just a few simple ingredients, like pure Vermont maple syrup and organic coconut, the flavor is rich and creaveable.  Coco-Roons were created by a mother-son chef duo inspired by the idea that less is more.  By using fewer ingredients, less processing, and no refined sugar, Coco-Roons taste more indulgent, are more satisfying, and are made with more beneficial superfoods than traditional cookies.  The result is a sweet treat that you can actually feel good about eating. Decadent enough for dessert, wholesome enough for breakfast, Coco-Roons are great any time of day.

Sejoyia’s Mission

-Use Less: Every ingredient we use has a purpose.  If it’s not something we would feed our family, it doesn’t belong in our food.  We use only organic, nutrient rich, highest quality, purest ingredients in our snacks

-Serve others: We thrive because of our employees, our customers, our consumers, and our suppliers.  We treat them with the love and respect they deserve

-Keep It Simple: We air dry rather than bake or fry our snacks to retain the beneficial nutrients and enzymes in the food.  Simple is best.  We never add artificial anything to our food.

-Care More: Be good citizens within our community and on our planet.  Make a positive impact on our world each day through our work.

-Be Our Best: We strive every day to be better and do better than we did yesterday.  We never stop working to improve our food, our work, or our positive impact.

About the Founder

They say necessity is the mother of invention.  We say mothers are the inventors of necessities.

For much of her professional life, Sequoia Cheney and  her husband, Jack used art therapy to help prison inmates and the mentally ill to enrich and rehabilitate  their lives. After years of service to others life threw a  few lemons her way. She was diagnosed with Type II  diabetes.  She made the decision to harness the  creative powers she used with others to reinvent  everything she knew about nutrition to make her body  whole again without traditional drug therapies.  And it  worked. Today she is medication free.

A natural teacher, Sequoia shared her newfound passion for health and an enriched lifestyle through sourcing and cooking whole, simple foods with others at cooking classes. She began experimenting with new combinations of whole, organic foods and voila! Coco-Roons were born.

Her students encouraged her to package and share her creations and at the age of 56 she began producing Coco-Roons out of a small commercial kitchen for local farmer’s markets and retailers. They were an instant hit. The business started growing so fast that Sequoia requested the help of her son Eric Hara, who was a respected Executive Chef in New York City at the time.
The rest, as they say, is history. The mother-son team expanded the brand to 4 lines of sweet, salty, healthy snacks to satisfy the needs and wants of snackers everywhere- salty or sweet, light or indulgent - all made with organic, non GMO, whole food ingredients to be gluten free, vegan, and nutrient-rich.  Coco-Roons, Brussel Bytes, Snip Chips, and Dipperz can be found at thousands of retailers all over the US and Canada.

Sequoia attributes her company’s growth to the their unwavering integrity, authenticity, creativity and respect for the people eating her food.

About Us :

Established in 2010, The Paleo Foundation was first organized for the purpose of helping Paleo Diet Adherents easily identify products that met the basic tenets of the diet.  Since then, thousands of products have been certified through the Certified Paleo, Paleo Approved, Paleo Vegan, and Paleo Friendly Certification Programs.

100% of  Paleo Foundation revenue is generated through Paleo Certifications. We do not accept donations, corporate sponsorships, or financially benefit from the sales of any paleo certified products, product giveaways, or partnerships with industry contacts or retailers for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of an impartial certification standard.

How we determine Paleo Certification Standards:

The Paleo Foundation develops Certification Standards from a mixture of input from various experts in the Paleo Movement, community input, and from logically and critically assessing arguments for the inclusion or exclusion of specific foods. After all, the Paleo Diet is a theoretical template, and therefore logic must be taken into account when making determinations for an entire community.

Paleo Approved, Certified Paleo, Paleo Friendly, and PaleoVegan Certification Programs:

Each Paleo Certification Program has a different set of standards. For the absolute strictest standards, Paleo Approved certifies farms, ranches, and single-ingredient products. Certified Paleo, the most popular of the Paleo Certification programs certifies products that contain Paleo Diet ingredients, but have some 21st century processing methods allowing for shelf stability. The Paleo Friendly Program allows for products that are generally regarded as gray-area products such as kombucha, dark chocolate, and even grass-fed dairy.
