Siggi’s

One serving of siggi’s yogurt uses 4x the amount of milk as a regular cup of yogurt, making a thick, protein-rich yogurt.

At Siggi’s, we make yogurts with simple ingredients and not a lot of sugar. Our products are based on Scandinavian dairy traditions, such as skyr, the traditional Icelandic yogurt. Also, our products don’t contain any of those dreadful artificial sweeteners. We only use milk from family farms who do not use growth hormones like rBST.

About the Brand

Siggi’s began in 2005 when our founder was missing a classic from his childhood. Skyr, a thick and creamy yogurt from Iceland. The yogurts in the U.S felt too sugary for his liking and full of artificial flavors. Siggi’s reintroduces yogurt while incorporating Icelandic customs and taste.

Using his mother’s recipe, Siggi Hilmarsson made skyr in his tiny New York City apartment. Within only a few months, he was able to quit his job and pursue Siggi’s full time. Our products do not contain any artificial preservatives, thickeners, sweeteners, flavors, or colors. We use family farms in Upstate New York and Wisconsin and naturally sources all of our ingredients.

FAQ

What is Icelandic skyr?
  • Skyr is the traditional yogurt of Iceland that has been made for over 1,000 years. It is a strained nonfat yogurt made by incubating skim milk with live active cultures. The water naturally found in milk, called whey, is strained away to make a much thicker, creamier, and concentrated yogurt. It takes approximately four times the milk to make one cup of siggi’s skyr compared to non-strained yogurt
Is your product made in Iceland?
  • siggi’s products are made in the US and our skyr is based on an age-old Icelandic recipe.
Are your products kosher?
  • Yes, all of siggi’s products are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union.
Are siggi’s products organic?
  • siggi’s products are not certified organic. We source our milk from farms that have pledged not to treat their cows with artificial growth hormones, also known as rBST. All siggi’s products are all natural, non-GMO, and made without artificial sweeteners or flavors. We keep our ingredient list simple!
What are probiotics?
  • According to the international scientific community, probiotics are live and active, friendly bacteria cultures that, when consumed in the right amounts, may have health benefits to the consumer, such as support of digestive health and immunity.
If there is liquid on top of my yogurt when I open it, is that ok
  • The liquid that can occasionally be found on top of yogurt is whey. Whey is simply the water in milk/yogurt and can contain some minerals and nutrients including calcium and small amounts of protein. A slight separation of whey from the yogurt is natural and can either be stirred back into the yogurt or poured off.
