Paleo, Keto, Grain Free Certification FAQs

HOW ARE PRODUCTS DETERMINED TO BE GRAIN FREE?

The Lab-Tested, Certified Grain-Free and Gluten-Free Certification Program certifies that products contain no grain or gluten. This is determined by a 2 Round Auditing process. During the first round of audits, our auditing team will assemble ingredient specifications for your products to assess that they meet the initial grain-free requirements as outlined in the allowed ingredients portion of the standards.

Then, during Round 2 audits, your products are lab-tested for gluten and gliadin prolamins to ensure the accuracy of a Gluten-Free product,  as well as for gliadin competitives to ensure the accuracy of a Grain-Free product.

HOW MUCH DOES CERTIFICATION COST?

The Cost of certification is based on annual revenues,  the number of products that are being applied for, the certifications being applied for, and the number of years to be certified for.  Cost calculations may be completed through the application.  However, they do not include the cost of the lab results during the second round of auditing.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO EXPEDITE CERTIFICATION?

Yes.

The First-Round Paleo and Keto Verification process may be expedited with 1-day and 10-business-day turnaround, and  Second-Round Grain Free Certification may be expedited with a 5-day turnaround for an additional fee.

Costs for expedited verification may be calculated on the application.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN CERTIFICATION?

Trademarked Logos, Permissions Letters, Lab Results, and a Products Display on the Paleo Foundation website are all included with your certification.

WILL THE COST OF CERTIFICATION BE THE SAME EVERY YEAR?

Once you have completed certification, you are “grandfathered in” to your fee tables.  A Paleo Foundation administrator will give you your individual renewal forms based on your “grandfathered” band.
